We’re Now a Certified B Corp!
We’re incredibly proud to share some exciting news... Harrogate Organics is officially a Certified B Corp.
For us, this is about so much more than a badge. Since we began in 2020, we’ve been on a mission to demonstrate the wellbeing powers of nature, through our range of thoughtful products.
What is B Corp?
B Corp originated twenty years ago. Created by B Lab, a global non-profit organisation that certifies businesses as B Corps based on their social, environmental and governance performance.
A B Corp company is a company verified as meeting standards for social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
It means that we have been externally assessed by American business, B Lab for meeting their integrated social, environmental, and governance standards.
This embeds our purpose and plans for positive impact in our company DNA, so that we’re aware of our impact on our people and planet.
Why is joining the B Corp community an accolade?
Put simply, less than 0.01% of companies globally hold this status, that’s less than 3,000 businesses in the UK, and we are just one of a handful in our town of Harrogate!
The certification process took us just over 18 months and challenged us to look at our business through five key areas: Environment, Governance, Customers, Community and Workers. From the way we source and operate, to how we look after our people, support our customers, contribute to our community and consider our impact on the planet, every area was examined in detail.
It was a rigorous and rewarding process which challenged us to measure our impact, hold ourselves accountable and question what we could improve. Most importantly, it encouraged us to look beyond what we’re doing today and consider how we can make better decisions for tomorrow.
Achieving B Corp status recognises the work we’ve already put in, but we see it as the beginning of another chapter, not the end of the journey.
There is always more to learn, improve and change and being a B Corp means continuing to challenge ourselves to operate responsibly, make thoughtful choices and create a positive impact wherever we can.
Looking to the future our purpose has always been rooted in nature, wellbeing and creating products we believe can make a positive difference and this milestone demonstrates our approach to operating a wellbeing brand.
